Eileen L. Peterson age 86 of the Town of Menasha, was taken into God's loving hands the evening of August 15, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She passed at her home after a short courageous battle with cancer. She was born on June 2, 1928 in Waupaca, daughter of the late Albert and Jessie (Lamb) Anderson. On January 22, 1947 she was united in marriage to Russell Peterson and they shared 67 years of marriage together. Eileen was a faithful member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Menasha. She was employed with United States Postal Service of Menasha from 1969-1993 where she made many new friends. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking for family and friends; noon luncheons with retired postal workers, ladies from church, friends and cousins. Her most favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eileen is lovingly survived by her husband, Russell Peterson; three children: Donald (Pam) Peterson, Debbie (Les) Simon, and Michael Peterson (Ginny Knippel); ten grandchildren: Amy (Nathan) Ebert, Stephanie (Jeremy) Harrell, Nicole Demerath (fiancé Kent Parnau), Justin (Lavonne) and Jake (Samantha) Simon, Troy (Darcy) and Josh (Amber) Peterson, Amanda (fiancé James Challe), Miranda, and Kaila Peterson; sixteen great grandchildren: Tiffany Bartmann, Erin Peterson, Marissa and Jordan Ebert, Dawson and Payton Harrell, Drake Demerath, Jackson and Alyssa Simon, Tabitha and Grace Simon, Fisher, Eli, and Preslie Peterson, Brielle and Tayvah Peterson; sister: Marjorie Cox; brother: Albert Anderson Jr.; sister-in-law: Lois Button.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Jessie (Lamb) Anderson; mother-in-law, Leona (Gloede) Peterson; brother-in-law, Charles Cox; sister-in-law, Leah Anderson; brothers-in-law: John (Iona) Peterson, Eddie (Doris) Peterson; sister-in-law: Gladys (Charles) Gyrion; brother-in-law LaVerne Button, step-brother-in-law and wife Loyal and Alvera Peterson; grandchild: Memorie Peterson; great grandchildren: Troy Jr. and Ayden Peterson.
Eileen's family will receive relatives and friends at Wichmann Funeral Home-Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha, on Monday, August 18, from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The funeral service for Eileen will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 19 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 829 Appleton Road, Menasha with Pastor Sam Degner officiating. Visitation will be also be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at church. Interment will be at Saxeville Union Cemetery, Saxeville, Wisconsin following the luncheon.
