Appleton
Age 79, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at the Theda Clark Medical Center.
He was born December 4, 1927, in Clark County, Wisconsin, to Edwin and Signe (Carlson) Olson. The Olson family moved to Racine and Ed grew up there. He was a graduate of Racine Park High School, and continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, where he obtained both a Bachelors and Masters degree.
Ed was united in marriage to Lois Horel on August 26, 1950, in Eau Claire, and they lived in Sturgeon Bay until Ed was drafted in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, the Olson’s lived and worked in Tomah for nine years before moving to Wauwatosa in 1963. Ed was a phy ed instructor and coach for Wauwatosa East High School, and he retired in 1983. Ed and Lois relocated to northern Minnesota, and lived on Lake Ada, near Pine River. They moved to Appleton in 2003. His favorite pastimes were golfing, fishing, and watching the Packers.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lois; his sons, Bruce (Eileen) Olson, and Brian Olson, of Appleton; Bruce and Eileen’s daughters and their families, Leah (Jason) Radocay, and son Owen Radocay, of Appleton; Norah Olson-Bluvshtein (Vlad Bluvshtein) and daughter Nadya Bluvshtein, of Minneapolis, and Katherine Olson, Appleton; Brian’s son and daughter, Lars Olson and Kelsey Olson, Appleton; and his sister, Janet Benner, Pittsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and three sisters.
Memorial services for Ed will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2007, at OUR SAVIOUR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3009 North Meade Street, with Rev. Dennis Ellisen officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association of Northeast Wisconsin, 2149 Velp Avenue, Green Bay, 54303, or the American Diabetes Association, Wisconsin Affiliate, 2323 North Mayfair Road, Wauwatosa, 53226.
