Age 71, died at home on October 24, 2001. He was born on October 29, 1929 to the late Charles and Anna Gast in Cicero, Illinois. Edwin married Emily Meuris on October 24, 1958 in Berwyn, Illinois. As a member of the armed forces in Korea, he proudly served in the 7th division. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. Edwin also enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and his dogs Kaiser and Honey. He retired from Appleton Manufacturing after many years of dedicated service. Edwin is survived by his wife Emily; children Michael & Mary Gast, Kathleen & Michael Catrine, Karen & Todd Hatton and Kristine Madson; grandchildren Jessica, Rebekah, Stephanie, Michelle, Brooke, Mason, Jack and Sara. He is also survived by a brother Fred (May) Gast and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Marc Edwin Gast, a brother Carl Gast and sisters Elmyra Bey and Ruth Nikola. A memorial service will be held at the FARGO FUNERAL HOME, 400 West Wisconsin Avenue, Kaukauna, on Saturday, October 27, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., with Chaplain Nolan Gnewuch officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service. A burial will be at St. John Cemetery, Little Chute, following the service. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Bruce Danz, the oncology staff at Appleton Medical Center, and the Theda Care Hospice staff.
