Age 85, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2007 at North Point Medical and Rehabilitation in Oshkosh. He was born on December 6, 1921 in Mosinee, Wisconsin to the late John and Cecelia (Leary) Schleis. After high school, Ed proudly served his country during WWII with the Army Air Corps. On February 16, 1946 he married Joyce Kessler, and they recently celebrated 61 wonderful years together. Ed made his life as a lithographer in the Milwaukee area. He was a family man who enjoyed traveling, he and Joyce have been to 49 of our states! He also enjoyed photography, and was also a gifted craftsman who built his own houses, boats, and many other things.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; his children: Kathy (Steve) Rieth, Appleton, Bob (Jodi Otto) Schleis, Delafield, Martha (Mike) Broadway, Waunakee; Meg Groves, Madison; grandchildren: Jenny, Mike (Julie), Ben, Katie, Clare, Matthew, Jake, Nick; great-grandsons: Andrew, Sam, Josh, Jack; as well as other relatives and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Katie Rieth, and his only sister, Jeanne Holcomb.
All friends and family are whole-heartedly welcome to attend a memorial on August 20, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. aboard the paddle-wheel boat on Lake Winneconne. The service to remember and celebrate Ed’s life will depart from the dock at the Finn and Feather Restaurant on the West end of the bridge. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ed’s name.
