AN ICON PASSES, EDDIE MALONEY OF THE CINDERELLA
Edward C. Maloney, age 63, died peacefully in his sleep on November 3, 2007, at his home in Menasha after a courageous 8-month battle with cancer. Eddie was born on February 23, 1944, in Oshkosh, to the late Charles and Florence (Manthie) Maloney. He married Kathleen Koppa on November 18, 1983, in Wausau. With Kathleen (”Bunzer”), Eddie owned and operated The Cinderella since 1983. His parents, Charlie and Florence Maloney, owned and operated the Cinderella Ballroom for over 50 years. Eddie proudly served his country in the United States Army during the War in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Wisconsin Tavern League. Eddie enjoyed big band and polka music (happy music), and also enjoyed traveling to Door County with Kathleen. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, brother, father, grandfather, son-in-law, brother-in-law and friend to many. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Kathleen; his son, Dr. Jack Maloney (Dawn Zenefski), and their daughter Sophia, Milwaukee; his daughter, Debra Sue (Michael) Hughes, and their children, Chloe, Michael, Emily and Olivia, Combined Locks; his daughter, Karla Telin, and her children, Sam (“Little Buddy”) and Brighton, Appleton; his son, Guy (Cheryl) Krumm, and their children Forrest and Gabriel, Wausau; his sister, Mary Jo Finley, Appleton; and his brother Tom Maloney, Whitefish Bay, WI. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Maloney. Out of respect for Eddie’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family will be celebrating his life at The Cinderella, 1151 Valley Road, Menasha, on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, from noon to 6:00 p.m. (for family, friends and regular customers only). The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to his son Jack for his loving care. They would like to also further thank the employees of The Cinderella for their kindness and help. Eddie will be sadly missed by his family, his special friends Smokey and Pauly, and his loyal customers.
