Jedlicka, Edward B.
“Ed”
Darboy
Age 76, died in Appleton on January 30, 2003. He was born in Dickinson, North Dakota on March 21, 1926, son of the late Joseph and Emma (Simek) Jedlicka. On October 21, 1946, he married Edith (Buresh) in New Hradec, North Dakota. He moved to Delavan, Wisconsin in 1965, and then to Appleton in 1980. Ed will be remembered for being a passionate gardener and crossword solver. He had a good work ethic and liked to keep himself busy by woodworking or any other project he saw fit to accomplish. He spent a good amount of time building a cottage for his daughter. For fun Ed liked to play horseshoes in the “family league” at either Ed Jr.’s or Richard’s place. He loved to listen, dance to, and play polka music. Although no one taught him how, he played a pretty good accordion and piano. Most important to Ed was his family. He took great pride in watching his grandchildren in sports and music activities.
Ed is survived by his wife Edith, three sons: Richard (Jean) Jedlicka of Appleton, Edward (Jody) Jedlicka of Darboy, and Alan (Sarah) Jedlicka of Darboy; three daughters: Donna (Tom) Gabel of Arlington, Wisconsin, Kathy (Gary) Milske of Kimberly, and Joleen (Tom) Swadley of Appleton; 19 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a brother, Joe (Mary) Jedlicka of Delavan, WI.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Martha Jedlicka.
The funeral liturgy will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2003, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 East Lourdes Drive, Appleton, with Fr. Harold Berryman officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Holy Angels Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Jeff Klingbeil, the nurses at 4 South and the staff at the I.C.U. at Appleton Medical Center.
Memorials in Ed’s name would be appreciated. Donations will be forwarded to Crohn’s Disease research.
