Leonaitis, Edward A.

Edward A. Leonaitis, age 89, of Kaukauna, formerly of Waukegan, IL and Wabasha, MN, died Saturday morning, November 26, 2005, at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, with his family at his side. Edward was born February 2, 1916 in Waukegan, Illinois, to the late Paul and Grace Leonaitis. He graduated from St. Bartholomew and Waukegan Township High School. In 1940, Ed married Marion Ekstrand. They shared 26 years until her death in 1968.
He married Luddy Ekstrand and after his retirement from Outboard Marine Corporation in 1978, they moved to Wabasha, MN where they lived until her death in 2002. Ed was an active member of St. Anastasia Parish in Waukegan and of St. Felix Parish in Wabasha, MN. He will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for golf and his great sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Stone and her husband, Bill, Ed’s best friend, Appleton; his granddaughter, Kelly Van Zeeland, her husband Todd and their sons, Ryan and Alex, Appleton; his grandson, Bill Stone and his wife Shelly and their children, Zachary, Benjamin and Abigail, Waupaca. He is further survived by his brother, Leonard Leonaitis and his wife, Gloria, Atlanta, Georgia; stepsons, Leroy Ekstrand and Judith Whitehead, Tucson, AZ; Jerre Ekstrand, St. Paul, MN; Peter Ekstrand and his wife Kathleen and Thomas Ekstrand, Wabasha, MN; and Mark Ekstrand, Austin, MN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion, his wife Ludmilla and his sister, Helen Van Parys.
The funeral liturgy for Edward will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at ST BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 West Pine Street, with Father Dennis Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Ascension Catholic Cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, from 10:00 am until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Paul Elder Services, Kaukauna, WI and St. Elizabeth Home, Wabasha, MN.

The family would like to thank the staff of Poppy Path and Birch Place, of St. Paul Home for the loving care they gave Dad.
