EDGAR A. VERHOEVEN
Appleton
Age 83, died Monday July 9, 2001. He was born October 20, 1917 to the late Martin and Martha (Garvey) Verhoeven in Appleton. Edgar married the former Florence Doerfler at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Appleton in 1941. He graduated from St. Mary High School of Menasha and completed his schooling at the Business College of Milwaukee. He was a longtime and active member at St. James and St. Michael’s Church in Wausau serving as an usher, mass server and lay distributor. Edgar was employed by the Pabst Brewing Co. as a Sales Manager of North Central WI for 31 years. He retired in 1981 and moved with his wife, Florence to Bradenton, FL in 1983. He enjoyed golfing as a member at the El Conquistador C.C. in Florida. Edgar was a member of the Wausau C.C, Wausau Curling Club, Wausau Elks Club and was a 3rd degree Honorary Knights of Columbus member at Council # 1069. He also enjoyed music, dancing and storytelling.
He is survived by his wife Florence Verhoeven; a daughter, Susan Michalski; two grandchildren, Shannon (Jim) Buntrock and Anthony (Tony) Sconzert; one great granddaughter, Alyvia Nicole; two brothers, Richard (Shirley) Verhoeven and Paul (Julie) Verhoeven; one sister, Marie Boesse; a brother in law, Harold (Lila) Doerfler; three sisters in law, Lois Verhoeven, Della (Med) Medlan and Irene Paden and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Verhoeven and a sister, Margaret (Clifford) Merkle.
A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Franciscan Care Center for all of the care they gave Edgar.
