Earl H. Meixl

Age 84, passed away December 24, 2003 at the Appleton Medical Center. Earl was born in Oshkosh on March 22, 1919, son of the late Herman and Amanda (DeRoche) Meixl. Earl was a proud member of the United States Army during World War II, and was a member of the William Verhagen Post #60 of the Kimberly American Legion. During his tour of duty married the former Jean Washburn on October 3, 1942. For nearly forty years, Earl worked as a sales representative for Schreiter Auto Supply. Many will remember him as an avid bowler in his younger years.

Earl is survived by four children: Sue (Bruce) Vander Velden of Darboy, John (Pat) Meixl of Kimberly, Richard (Rose) Meixl of the Town of Menasha, and Steve Meixl of Kimberly; five grandchildren: Rick (Jill) Meixl, Randy Meixl and his special friend Mary Freeman, Amy (Terry) Bradbery, Brian (Stephanie) Meixl, and Scott (Kari) Meixl; three step-grandchildren: Adam Vander Velden and his fiancée Alissa Wilz , Adam Vander Velden, and Aaron Vander Velden; seven great-grandchildren: Jenni, Scott, and Eric Meixl, Ryan Meixl, Spencer and Victoria Bradbery, and Landin Meixl; four sisters: Elsie (Phil) Skaug of Oshkosh, Elaine Holdren of Oshkosh, Audrey Pegel of Appleton, and Dorita (Len) Woloszyk of Greendale; a sister-in-law: Ruth (Al) Starret of Oshkosh; and loving companion Cele Wilde of Oshkosh. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean in 1988, and brothers-in-law Edward Holdren and Evan Pegel.

The funeral liturgy for Earl will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, December 29, 2003 at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service.
