Earl A. Blink Jr., age 95, passed away peacefully on his birthday at ThedaCare Medical Center - Appleton. He was born on May 20, 1929, to the late Ida and Earl Blink, Sr. in New London, Wisconsin. He attended New London High School and joined the US Navy immediately upon graduation. He served 2 years on the USS Hugh Purvis as a gunner’s mate.
After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, he began working for Hennes Erecting Company (Azco Hennes) until he retired in 1990. His retirement was filled with his love for building things. He became a general contractor for Blink Construction, LLC and built many duplexes and homes in Appleton and the surrounding area. He loved to hunt for turkey and deer and built 12 deer blinds for the crew that he hunted with in Big Falls, WI.
Earl was a big fan of the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers. As a season ticket holder and a Shareholder, he was blessed to meet some of the Packers from the good old days including Bart Starr, Jerry Kramer, and Ray Nitschke.
Earl will always be remembered for his incredible work ethic, his strong- willed personality and his love of the outdoors. He is survived by his children: son Timothy “Scott” Blink, and daughter Rebecca “Becky” Blink, and stepson Dave (Debbie) Carney. Awaiting his arrival in Heaven with an 8 year honey-do list is his wife Elaine. He is further preceded in death by his parents: Earl A Blink, Sr. and his wife Ida; his brother Maynard Blink, and his sister Eloise Learman; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at Highland Memorial Park in the Star of Hope Chapel on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, with Pastor Azor Cigelski presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with full military honors. Interment will immediately follow the ceremony.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Carolina Assisted Living and ThedaCare Hospice.
