Rydell, D.D.S., Edward A.
Dr. Edward A. Rydell, age 87, of the Town of Menasha, passed away, Monday evening, April 14, 2008. He was born March 18, 1921, to the late Oscar and Hannah (Swanson) Rydell, in Wheaton MN. Ed attended Columbia University and graduated from the University of Minnesota Dental College. While a student at the University of Minnesota he played football as an offensive tackle. Upon graduation he started his dental practice in Appleton, but was called for military service. Doc resumed his dental practice when he returned and ran a successful practice, retiring in 1983. Once upon a time this kind and gentle man came into our lives. He joyously and lovingly walked on the earth for 87 years. What a privilege it was to have shared time with this precious man. God, family, dentistry, golfing, boating and travel, the Appleton Yacht Club and the Elks filled his life with happiness and joy. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Ed is survived by his wife, Mary F. (Leisen) Rydell to whom he had been married for 27 years; two sons, Edward (Judy) Rydell, Town of Menasha; Raymond (Susan Jean) Rydell, Granger, IN; three grandchildren, Justin Rydell, Vanessa Rydell and Natalie Rydell, all of Canada; two nephews, Dr. Robert (Jean) Rydell, Dr. Ralph (Cathy) Rydell; a niece, Ruth (Norman) Johnson; a sister-in-law, Sandra Miller; nieces and nephews, Steve Miller, Karen (Tom) Dedering, Kathy Miller, Mike Miller and Andy (Kathy) Miller; 17 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia (Boettcher) Rydell, two brothers, Dr. Robert (Astrid) Rydell and Dr. John (Dorothy) Jern, his father and mother-in-law, Herb and Sadie Boettcher and a brother-in-law, Roger Miller. Funeral services for Edward will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the funeral home, with Reverend Wendy Wirth-Brock officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
How much we all have loved him and what beautiful memories we shall keep in our hearts forever. May God continue to bless you, Edward A. Rydell, my dear husband. Our hearts are breaking, but we shall meet again.
