Douglas Crane passed away at the age of 93 on Saturday, December 17, surrounded by his family. He was born in Appleton, WI on July 14, 1923 to Stanley and Marie Crane. He served in the United States Navy from 1941 to 1946 and served aboard a number of ships during WWII, seeing action mostly in the Pacific. During his long retirement, he and Bette enjoyed travelling around the United States. They enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Alaska, California, South Dakota, and New York. He especially enjoyed trips to reunions of his WWII shipmates from the USS Wake Island, which mostly took place in Branson, MO. Doug was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and an avid bowler and sheepshead player. He also enjoyed tending his garden and yard during retirement.
