Merson, Douglas A. ‘Stretch’
Age 42
Of Little Chute, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at Appleton Medical Center.
He was born May 9, 1960 in Clintonville, WI. He grew up in Shiocton but graduated from Neenah High School in 1978. In that same year he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the destroyer, U.S.S. Peterson, in the sixth fleet. He was honorably discharged in 1982 as Petty Officer 2nd Class. He worked for 16 years in Quality Control at Miller Electric.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Merson and his sister, Karla Bricco.
He is survived by his Mother, Dixie (Glenn) Guthrie of Asheville, NC; daughters: Megan and Hayley and their mother, Cindy Merson of Little Chute; sister, Paula (Roger) Kohrt of Shiocton; brother-in-law Douglas (Kristine) Bricco of Little Chute; uncle and aunt Jerry and Ann Addie of Janesville, WI; aunt Janice Merson Fink of St. Petersburg, FL; special niece, Shanna Bricco of Oshkosh; and numerous cousins.
He earned the name ‘Stretch’ due to his lanky 6’5” frame. He loved to hunt, fish, golf, and participate in his daughter’s sporting activities.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Frank Conner officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM until the time of service also Saturday. A memorial fund is being established.
