Dorothy (nee Wendt) McClintock Vanden Boogaard, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, February 20, 2015. Dorothy was born in Seymour on November 14, 1924, daughter of the late Arthur and Marie “Theresa” (Wolf) Wendt. Dorothy will be best remembered as a longtime waitress at Bleier's Supper Club in Appleton. She also loved to babysit young children, especially as a help to single moms who needed help with their kids. She was a blessing to many that way.
Survivors include her children: Daniel (Connie) McClintock of Mackville; Sandy Westenberger of Appleton; Theresa M. McClintock of Madison; Bonnie Mattaeus of Florida; and Jacqueline McClintock of Appleton; a step-daughter: Debbie (Randy) Zillges of Darboy; five grandchildren: Ryan, Erik, Scott, Sara, and Shawn; a daughter-in-law: Ruth Ann McClintock of Neenah; three brothers: Don (Helen) Wendt of Appleton; Edward (Marlene) Wendt of Darboy; and Richard Wendt of Crandon; a sister: Virginia Lewin of Athelstane; a sister-in-law: Christine Wendt of Kaukauna; and a lifelong friend: Gertrude Gaffney of Kimberly. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Calvin McClintock and Robert Vanden Boogaard, a son Richard McClintock; brothers Arthur Wendt, Jr. and Earl Wendt; and sisters Helen (Roger) Ely and Ethel (Joe) Roovers.
Friends and family will gather for a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 N. McDonald Street in Appleton, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Visitation will take place directly at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.
