Dorothy "JoAnn" Schroeder

Dorothy “JoAnn” Schroeder, 92, of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away on August 29, 2023.

JoAnn was born in Dodgeville on May 13, 1931 to Ernest and Juanita (Peterson) Nelson. She attended school in Dodgeville and was an active member of the Dodgeville Lutheran Church in Iowa County. Robert was in the United States Air Force for a majority of his life, working as a medic for over 23 years and spending time throughout the U.S. and Bermuda. Robert and JoAnn eventually settled down in Appleton, and JoAnn devoted her time to raising her three sons, Gary, Greg, and Mark; In addition to her role of wife and mother, JoAnn enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, camping with her husband, spending time with her precious Yorkies, and watching birds.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Mark, grandson Cooper, brothers John Philip (Jack) and Duwayne, and sister-in-law Carol.

JoAnn is survived by her siblings Connie (Koller), Carolyn (Anderson), and Doug Nelson; her sons Gary (Mary) Schroeder and Greg Schroeder; grandchildren Claire Schroeder, Louis Schroeder, and Gage Schroeder; great-granddaughter Bianca Stanchina, and many other relatives and friends.

A prayer service and burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton on Thursday, September 28th for immediate family. Rest in Peace, Mom.
