Dorothy, age 95, died peacefully on January 23, 2018 in Appleton WI. She was born in Milwaukee WI on October 24, 1922 to Adele (nee Grafenberger) and Orville Vebber. Dorothy graduated from Riverside High School in Milwaukee WI and went on to study at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and UW-Milwaukee. She married John “Jack” Stenz in January 1948 at St. Monica Catholic Church in Whitefish Bay, WI. The family moved to Appleton WI in 1963. Dorothy will be remembered for her strong faith, keen intellect, and sense of humor. She was involved numerous volunteer activities over the years and shared her musical talent by singing in the All Saints Episcopal Church choir for many years.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her children Anne Lang, Appleton, John, Jr. (Cynthia) Stenz, Oshkosh, Mark (Jane) Stenz, Appleton, David (LeNelle) Stenz, Grayslake IL, Thomas (Betty) Stenz, Erie CO, Philip (Susan) Stenz, Wautoma, and Michael (Stephanie) Stenz, Green Bay, grandchildren Kari Anne Stenz, Andrew (fiancée Dena Mantz) Lang, Eric (Lynn) Lang, Sarah Lang, Abigail (Adam) Williams, Christopher (Amy) Stenz, Beth Stenz, Jennifer (Michael) Zickus, Katharine (Zachary Carlson) Stenz, Adam Stenz, Elizabeth Stenz, and 16 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her brother William (Nancy) Vebber, and a nephew, Paul Vebber, and niece Katherine (Michael) Siebel. Jack preceded her in death on January 17, 2015.
A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 100 N. Drew St., in Appleton WI at 11:00am on Saturday, January 27, 2018, with The Rev. Jim Harrison officiating. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial for All Saints Episcopal Church and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
