Dorothy M. Petersen of Appleton, WI passed away on November 19, 2017 at the age of 94. She left this world peacefully with her family at her side.
Dorothy was born to Genevieve and Urban Drolette on July 14, 1923 in Oconto, WI.
Dorothy graduated as valedictorian from Oconto High School in 1941. That same year, on December 29, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Charles (Charlie) J. Petersen.
Dorothy was a long time employee and retiree of Wisconsin Bell. She enjoyed camping, fishing, square dancing, playing cards, a Perfect Brandy Manhattan, and repurposing everything…especially leftovers.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Chuck (Carole) Petersen, Chickamauga, GA, Paul (Camille) Petersen, Johnstown, OH, daughters, Barb (Steve) Sonkowsky, Appleton, Sue (Dale) Bowers, Little Chute, Carol (Don) Draeger, Eau Claire, Amy (Danny) Degenhardt, Appleton and daughter in law, Eileen Steinke, Appleton, sister Jean Krueger, Oconto, Grandchildren, Belinda Brewster, Tammy Lovings, Jeff Petersen, Bill Petersen, Katie Kingree, Lisa Fulcer, Sarah Goffard, Tricia, Sami and Allan Sonkowsky, Brian Mauthe, Kelly Hoppe, Charlie Bowers, Dustin, Jason and Ashley Draeger, Cora Pynenberg, and John Degenhardt. She is further survived by several great, great-great and great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie, son Mike Petersen, brother Paul Drolette, grandson Chris Petersen, grandson in law Earl Lovings, and several sister and brother in laws.
The funeral liturgy for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at St. Pius X Parish, 500 W. Marquette Street in Appleton. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Brewster Village, Heritage One-Depot Household, for making her final year comfortable, happy, and filled with activities. She loved her Brewster family and was very happy there.
