DOROTHY MAE COX
(Dorothy Mae Beebe)
Poy Sippi

Age 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2002, at Cherry Meadows, Appleton, after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Dorothy was born February 5, 1927, on the family homestead (founded in 1842) in Benton, Wisconsin, to the late E. Alvin and Mae Winifred (Hughes) Beebe. As a child on the family farm she acquired her core values of hard work, honesty and self-sacrifice. She was graduated from Platteville Normal School with a degree in Elementary Education in 1946 and taught in one-room school houses in Lead Mine and Cuba City, Wisconsin. She married Oran Cox on December 27, 1948. With her husband they founded the well-known and award winning Mastercraft Paper Products, Inc. in Appleton in 1954. Dorothy was a loving, devoted, kind and patient wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of the Poy Sippi Homemakers Club and the Wisconsin Restaurant Association. In her retirement she realized her life-long ambition to travel, visiting Belize, Costa Rica, Alaska, Hawaii and most of the continental United States, Canada and Mexico. During the past few years, she enjoyed spending winters at their retirement home in Englewood, Florida. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and entertaining. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Oran; her children, Linda (Jeffrey) Meidam, Scandinavia; Dennis Cox, Wasilla, Alaska; and Cindy (Matthew) Coakley, Appleton; her grandchildren, Melissa, Rebecca and Christina Meidam, and Ian Cox; her sisters and brothers, Berniece (Dean) Beyhl, Moline, Illinois; James (Ann) Beebe, Scales Mound, Illinois; Glen Beebe, Milwaukee; Elva Jane (Stuart) Sincock, Benton, Wisconsin; nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at ThedaCare Hospice for their loving care and to her many special friends for their support. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at Poy Sippi United Methodist Church, W2256 Liberty Street, Poy Sippi, with Rev. Deborah F. Gorman officiating. Friends may call at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Appleton, on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again directly at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
