SCHMIDT, DOROTHY M.

Dorothy Schmidt, of Appleton, age 90 years, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Rennes Health Care Center. She was born February 7, 1917 in Appleton, the daughter of the late George and Anna (Coenen) Janssen. On May 25, 1940 she married Michael Schmidt at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton and he preceded her in death on January 18, 1979. Dorothy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Schmidt; sisters: Ceil (John) Jaykoski, Mary (Melvin) Rettler, Clara (Art) Hinz, Alice (Herb) Smith and Rose (Joseph) Hietpas; brothers: Ben (Anne) Janssen, Ray (Mae) Janssen and Rich Janssen; brothers-in-law: Fred Schmidt, Joseph (Armela) Schmidt, Peter (Marie) Schmidt and John (Leona) Schmidt and a sister-in-law, Marie (Francis) Koller.

The funeral liturgy for Dorothy will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, July 20, 2007 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. Interment will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Sherwood. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 2:30 pm until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
