Formerly of Kaukauna, died in a Green Bay nursing center on Thursday, June 6, 2002 at the age of 86. Dorothy was born in Hollandtown on May 10, 1916 daughter of the late William and Antoinette (Josephs) Fink. On December 28, 1932 Dorothy married Robert Nushart in Hollandtown; he preceded her in death on August 17, 1979. For many years, Dorothy worked as the head cook at the Kaukauna Elks Lodge, and later supervised the delicatessen at Larry’s Market. Many will remember her as an excellent cook and superb homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter: Carol (Greg) Vander Velden of DePere; two sons: Ken (Mary Lou) Nushart of Soldotna, Alaska and Cliff (Karen “Suzie”) Nushart of Askeaton; ten grandchildren: Kevin (Susie) Nushart, Keith (Dawn) Nushart, Kim (Steve) Russell, Kris (Jason) Stuart, Craig (Bonnie) Nushart, Curt (Annette) Nushart, Kamie Nushart, Rob Van Eyck, Kathy Van Eyck, and Joe (Lori) Van Eyck; three step-granddaughters: Cindy (Russ) Forseth, Pam (Joe) Sturm, Lisa (Mark) Stevens; fourteen great-grandchildren; fourteen step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter Katy; a brother: Robert Fink of Wausaukee; three sisters: Mabel (Steve) McKinley of Appleton, Agnes Liebergen of Kaukauna, and Ruth (Walter) Verhaagh of Green Bay; three sisters-in-law: Rita Fink of Kaukauna, Josephine Granger of Kaukauna, and Mabel Nushart of Pembine. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, a grandson Kip Nushart in 2000, brothers Earl (Marcella) Fink, Elmer Fink, and Sylvester Fink a sister Florence (Larry) Schroeder; brothers-in-law Nestor Liebergen, Elmer Granger, Richard Nushart, John (Helen) Nushart, and George “Buddy” (Ruth) Nushart; and by sisters-in-law Eva (Barney) Eppinger, Marie “Tootie” (Joe) Hurst, Ceily (Wilfred) Siebers, and Lillian (Bill) Lenz.
The funeral liturgy for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 10, 2002 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Robert Udulutsch, OFM, Cap. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9 AM until the hour of the services.
Dorothy will be remembered by all as a woman who dedicated her life to the service of others. Even near the end of her life, while being challenged by Alzheimer’s Disease and using a walker, she continued to be of help to those she loved.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Mary Hospital in Green Bay for the wonderful care you extended to all of us while mom was a patient. And for those of you who took care of mom at Manor Care West for the past six years: You cared for her as though she was your very own; she could have been in no better hands. Thank you so much.
