Age 87, died Monday morning, February 3, 2003. She was born June 10, 1915, to the late Martin and Barbara (Roith) Christensen, in Duluth, Minnesota and had been an Appleton resident for 30 years. While an Appleton resident, Dorothy, was employed by Aid Association for Lutherans, retiring at the age of 72. Dorothy loved baking, enjoyed needle work, loved plants and growing African Violets. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and James Sertic, Antioch, Illinois; a son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Dona Edwards, Appleton; a son-in-law, John Redmond, Lake Forest, IL; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Christensen, Duluth, MN; Margaret Mingo, Kissimmee, FL; two brothers, Thomas Christensen and Donald Christensen, King, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin O. L. Edwards, in 1965, a daughter, Judith Redmond, in 1999 and a brother Walter Christensen, in 1993. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 7, 2003, at the funeral home, with Deacon Peter Reinl officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer, MI. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 am, Friday until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established for the American Lung Association.
