Dorothy Stach passed away peacefully early Monday morning at Peabody Manor, after a lengthy illness.
She was born February 7, 1917 in Chicago Illinois to William and Margaret Below, and was a graduate of York High School in Elmhurst.
Dorothy graduated from Lawrence College in 1938 and was a member of the Alpha Pi national sorority.
She was a devoted wife and dearest friend to Wilmer “Bud” Stach for 63 years. They were long time members of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Dorothy was a longtime member of the AMC auxiliary and also volunteered extensively with the hospital. She was a member and past President of King’s Daughters in Appleton.
Dorothy and Bud were members of Riverview Country Club for most of their married lives. They traveled extensively across the United States and abroad, and spent more than 25 years wintering in Arizona with many of their friends.
She is deeply loved by her survivors who include her daughter Pam, Waunakee, Wisconsin, her son Rick (daughter-in-law, Joanie) Appleton and her son David, (daughter in-law, Patricia) Centreville, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and her husband. She was a loving grandmother to Lindsay Herb of Merriam Kansas and Whitney Stach of Appleton and Liesl, Dieter and Paetr Stach of Centreville, Virginia. Her life was filled with numerous life-long friends, many of whom preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 Saturday, February 4, 2006, at OUR SAVIOUR.’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3009 North Meade Street, with Pastor Todd Smith officiating. Entombment will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in her name.
