Formerly of Kaukauna, died Monday, December 10, 2001 at Brewster Village in Appleton at the age of 92. Dorothy was born in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin on April 22, 1909, daughter of the late George and Kathryn (Robinson) Grant. For several years, Dorothy worked as a housekeeper at the Kaukauna Community Hospital, retiring in 1974. She was a member and past president of the Kaukauna Lady Eagles, and was also a member of the Kaukauna Golden Agers. She enjoyed caring for her garden, playing cards, and crocheting.
Survivors include a daughter: Betty (Vic) Lange of Appleton; two sons: David (Linda) Haen of Appleton and Ron (Betty) Haen of Port Huron, Michigan; a daughter-in-law: Joan Jaeckels of Kaukauna; a step-daughter: Alice Mae Christiansen of Neenah; a step-son: Richard (Joan) Haen of North Aurora, Illinois; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by a brother: James Grant of Yellville, Arkansas, two sisters: Kathryn Bridwell of Cornell, California and Alice Glover of Ludington, Michigan, and by special friends Herb and Marie Powell, and Verna Josie. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Matthew Jaeckels and Henry Haen, a son James Jaeckels, a brother: George (Elsie) Grant, step-children Dorothy Conway, Clifford Haen, Evelyn Ellis, and Cordell Michaels, a sister-in-law Marie Grant, and a brother-in-law Clifford Bridwell.
The funeral liturgy for Dorothy will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, December 13, 2001 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 2 PM until the hour of the liturgy. A memorial fund has been established in Dorothy’s name.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to her many friends and the staff at Pioneer Village in Appleton, who made such a comfortable home for Dorothy, as well as to the “special angels” at Symphony Place at Brewster Village for taking her under your caring wings. Mom could have been in no better hands. Thank you all so very much.
