Dorothy Lindgren passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 in Appleton. Dorothy and her identical twin Doris were born January 6, 1927 in West Allis, to the late William and Eleanor Coad. After graduating salutatorian of West Allis Central High School class of 1944, Dorothy graduated from Milwaukee Business College and was a stenographer for the FBI in Milwaukee. She married her high school sweetheart Leonard C. Lindgren in 1950. They were married for 63 years and had three children.
After living in several Midwest cities Dorothy and Len settled in Appleton in 1977. Dorothy was a member of Job’s Daughters, the Order of the Eastern Star, PEO, Appleton Women’s Club, the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Appleton, and was a volunteer at Appleton Medical Center. Dorothy was an avid bridge player and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and playing golf, counting among her achievements a hole in one while vacationing in Arizona. During retirement, Dorothy and Len enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Dorothy was blessed with six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Richard (Eve), Karen (Bob) Schrum, and Kristine (Mick) Rembold, grandchildren, Robby (Breen), Andy (Mia), Jonathan, Zoe, Katie, and Michael, and great-grandchildren, Leonard (Leo), Peter, Julia, and Winnie. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Len, and cherished twin, Doris.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 803 E. College Ave., Appleton. Visitation will be on Friday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. At the family’s request, face masks will be required.
