Age 83, died Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Appleton Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born September 7th, 1922 to the late H.A. and Emma Anderson in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. Dorothy married Dr. Chester L. Meyers on August, 28, 1948, at First Lutheran Church in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. Dorothy attended both Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota and University of Minnesota graduating Summa Cum Laude. She worked for Honeywell in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She and Chester lived in Guam from 1955 to 1957 during his tour of duty with the U.S. Navy. Dorothy and Chester settled in Appleton where he started his medical practice. Dorothy was active in the medical auxiliary. She was a long-time member of King’s Daughters, as well as serving as President. She also volunteered at the Put N’ Take shop and served Meals on Wheels for many years. She and Chester were lifelong members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton. Dorothy and Chester loved to travel and were fortunate to have taken trips to all seven continents. Dorothy loved to sew, but her passion was reading.
She is survived by her children. Her daughter, Lucia (Richard) Peck, Encinitas, CA; her son, Judson (Cindy) Meyers, Appleton, WI; her five grandchildren, Eric and Brian Peck and Nicole, Judson, and Carl Meyers, and a great-grandson, Adam Meyers; her brother-in-law Dr. Bruce (Ann) Meyers, Sherman Oaks, CA; her brother-in-law Bernhard LeVander, St. Paul, MN; sister-in-law Pia Anderson, Washington, D.C. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Chester L. Meyers ; an infant granddaughter, Elizabeth Peck; sisters, Elmina (Roswell) Anderson, Dagne LeVander, Emmona (Elmer) Balkema, brothers; Theodore (Linnea) Anderson, Carl (Ida) Anderson, Emmons Anderson, Grant (Rosalie) Anderson, Harold Anderson, and Burnett Anderson.
A private family memorial service will be held and interment will be at the family plot in Grantsburg, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Parkinson’s Association or the Salvation Army.
