Age 86, passed away after a short illness at Appleton Medical Center on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. She was born in Kaukuana on December 8, 1921 the daughter of the late Daniel and Jennie (Urling) McCabe. Doris graduated from Kaukauna High School. She then worked for Zwicker Knitting Mill her whole life. Doris volunteered as a member of the Christian Mothers Society, often involved in visitation of shut-ins. She also volunteered for the Environmental Center for many years. Doris was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and volunteered much of her time there.

Doris is survived by her sisters-in-law: Dorothy McCabe of Winona, MN and Germaine McCabe of Kaukauna; nieces and nephews: Daniel (Linda) McCabe of Kaukauna, Sarah Van Mun of Appleton, Bill McCabe of Kaukauna, Kathleen Fleming of Combined Locks, Patricia McCabe of Philadelphia, PA., Mary (Todd) Roovers of Kaukauna, Susan McCabe of Battle Creek, MI, and Nancy (Don) Gaulke of Winona, MN. She is further survived by numerous family members and friends. She is preceded in death by two brothers: Harold and Howard McCabe; and a sister, Lorraine (Sister John) McCabe.

The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2008 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna with Rev. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Parkside Care Center for their wonderful care over the many years Doris lived there.
