DONNA (Zephirin) KERN
Appleton
Age 66, died peacefully of Leukemia on Saturday, March 9, 2002 at home. She was born June 17, 1935 to the late Jule and Bernetta (Dorn) Zephirin. Donna married Nick Kern Sr. on September 17, 1955. She was baptized and married at St. Joseph Parish in Appleton. Nick and Donna were charter members of St. Bernadette Parish in Appleton. Donna worked for three years at Kimberly Clark before staying home for 12 years raising her four children. She also worked at USDA Federal Milk Market until her retirement in 1993. Donna loved sharing fun times with family and friends. The family cottage on Shawano Lake was a favorite place. She enjoyed going to plays, playing cards, canoeing and sharing a big warm hug with anyone within arms reach. Donna took millions of pictures of her grandchildren, family and friends. She also happily volunteered at St. Bernadette and was active in the girl scout organization for 50 plus years.
Donna leaves her husband Nick; four children, Susan (Kevin) Gerarden of Oshkosh; Julie (special friend, Mike) Herb of Appleton; Kathy (Dave) Heger of Neenah and Nick Jr. (Annette) Kern of Appleton; Eleven grandchildren, Paul, Jodi Kay, Charlie and John Gerarden; Natalie and Brody Herb; Amy and Layla Heger; Karri, Nicholas Benjamin IV and Tobias Kern. She will also be greatly missed by her brother, Jim (Vicki) Zephirin of Pewaukee; six sisters in law Lorraine (Vernon) Coopman, Bernice (Bob) Schmidt, JoAnn Jost, Rita (Leonard) Wyngaard, Joyce (William) Frank and Donna (Cornelius) Van Hout; two aunts, Margaret Radtke and Ethel Dorn and many nieces, nephews and God children.
The Funeral Liturgy will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 East Lourdes Drive, Appleton, with Fr. Harold Berryman officiating. Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at the Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM and again on Wednesday at CHURCH from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Bernadette Parish and Hospice.
