Donalda A. Kassube

Donalda A. “Donny” Kassube, age 93, of Menasha, passed away on September 24, 2020.

She was born on October 31, 1926 to the late Walter and Margaret (Degan) Katzenmeyer in Shawano, WI. Donny was a 1944 graduate of Shawano High School. On March 19, 1946, she married the late Duane “Kat” Kassube and enjoyed 41 years together.

Donny was an avid reader, crossword extraordinaire, dark chocolate lover and enjoyed watching NCIS.  She loved spending time with her daughters and family. Donny was a congregant of Grace Lutheran Church, Appleton and a member of the Appleton American Legion Auxiliary #38. She was a homemaker that loved to volunteer and found enjoyment in a variety of activities. Some of these things included: Brownie and Girl Scout leader, library assistant at Highlands Elementary, knitting baby caps for newborns and various other volunteer jobs at Grace Lutheran Church. Donny also worked closely with Kat, promoting local and state bowling events.

Donny will be sadly missed and is survived by her 4 daughters, Kay VandenBoom, Mary (Mark) Mueller, Peggy (Carl) Schuh, and Leslie (Keith) Fens; 6 grandchildren, Amy (Mark) Davis, Julie (Fred) King, Kim Thiel, Kari (Nick) Henning, Haley (Brian) Hovick and Nathan Fens; 8 great-grandchildren, Raechl, Ziva, Finnley, Ellie, Ayda, Irie, Adler and Molly; brother, Bill (Bonnie) Krenger; many other dear family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Donny was preceded in death by her stepfather Edward “Shorty” Krenger and son-in-law, Peter VandenBoom.

Due to the current circumstances, a private Memorial Service will be held for Donny at 4 PM on Friday, October 2, 2020.  The service may be viewed via Livestream by visiting this obituary page on the day of the service. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano, WI at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a portion of memorials given to Donny’s family will be donated to Grace Lutheran Church and the Salvation Army in her name.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staffs of Prairie Home Assisted Living House of Joy and Heartland Hospice for their care of and compassion to Donny.
