Don Wolff, age 94 of Appleton, passed away August 7, 2024, at his home. Don was born in Appleton on June 23, 1930, son of the late Helmuth and Lorinda (Knaack) Wolff. In 1951 Don entered the United States Army, and during his time in the service married Marlene Doxtater in 1952; Don was discharged in 1953.
Don was a man with a servant’s heart who lived to serve other people. He cared for his ailing wife Marlene, and was a devoted father to Steve, Marti, and Casey. Everyone was keenly aware of the very special bond that was formed with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the apple of his eye. He was a popular resident at Eagle Court and will be missed by the lovely caring angels as well as the other residents at his assisted living.
Don was a longtime and faithful member of Riverview Lutheran Church where he was a leader of the Lutheran Pioneers, volunteered in many other capacities, and was a longtime usher. Later in life he delivered Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by three children: Steve (Pat) Wolff of Appleton; Marti (Bruce) Lembcke of Appleton; and Casey (Michelle) Wolff of Elkhorn. His loving grandchildren include Bill (Erin) Wolff, Stephanie (Dylan) Stenglein, Christopher (Natalia) Lembcke, Tyler (fiancée Josie McDaniel) Lembcke, Samantha Wolff, Ally Wolff, McKenzie (fiancé Tony Royek) Wolff, and Selena Wolff. He also had a soft spot for his great grands: Grace, Ava, Parker, Addie, River, Lincoln, and Summer. A dear family friend, Marcie Herrmann also survives.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marlene, and brothers Helmuth “Bud” (Myrtle), Gordon (Audrey), Larry (Mabel), and Norman.
The Christian Funeral Service for Don will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Riverview Lutheran Church, located at 136 W. Seymour Street in Appleton. Rev. Timothy Wagner will officiate and full military honors will follow. Entombment will l take place at Highland Memorial Park. Don will lie in state at the altar of Riverview Lutheran Church on August 22, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
He always he did so much for others and asked for very little for himself. He touched so many people he has left a legacy of love for a us that are related to him to carry forward into the future. Dad you will be so missed by so many.
