Age 85, passed away at Rennes Health Center on Sunday, January 27, 2008. He was born in Milwaukee on April 19, 1922, the son of the late Frank and Elsie (Schwertfeger) Edwards, and raised in Kenosha. In October, 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army, and served during WWII in the European Theater until December, 1945. On February 16, 1946 he was united in marriage to Joyce Galloway in Kenosha. Don was a Metropolitan Life Insurance agent for 28 years in the Milwaukee area. Don and Joyce moved to Appleton in 1988 where he became a member of the Mac Dowell Male Chorus and Appleton Kiwanis-Golden K. Humor was very important to Don and his mission in life was to make people laugh!

Don is survived by his wife, Joyce; children: Lynn Anne (Russel) Lichte of Appleton and their children, Erick and Kelly (Tim) Thorson; Larry (Judy) Edwards of Denver, CO and their children, Elizabeth and Mark; Lee (Rich) Warnes of Elm Grove and her son Michael Saur; and John (Cindy) Edwards of Hartland and their daughters, Sarah and Lauren. He was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Jacob Edwards.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2008 at First United Methodist Church, 325 E. Franklin St., Appleton, with Dr. Doyle Blanton officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.

The family extends a special thank you to the past and present staff at Rennes Health Center for their loving care of Don for many years.
