Donald “Don” Daniel Miller, age 97 of Greenville, WI, formerly of Milwaukee, WI joined his heavenly kingdom on March 7, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born to Conrad and Alice (Krueger) Miller on January 28, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas. Don graduated from Milwaukee (Boys’) Tech High School in ’44 and joined the fight for his nation and the world in WWII, serving in the Navy in the Pacific Rim. After the war, he earned a technical degree to become an electrician, helping to build homes and businesses in the Milwaukee area for most of his life. Don married the love of his life, Cecelia Miller, in June of 1950 and together, they raised 3 wonderful children. They were happily married for over 73 years.
Don liked to putter - he always had his hands full with something. You could always find him painting something, working on a craft, building something, or just generally keeping busy. Don never had idle hands or an idle mind. He almost always spent his free time expanding his mind or honing a skill in some way. After Don and Cecelia’s retirement, they moved up to Lakewood from Milwaukee and enjoyed their retirement at their lake house. Even after finally settling in Greenville, they reminisced on fond memories of the lake house for years to come. In Milwaukee, Don was a faithful member at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, helping out at their annual picnic, counting money, and even helping to build the church in 1960. Other faith communities of Don’s included St. Mary’s of the Lake and St. Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception. Don was a proud member of the VFW Post 2778 and Post 2119 and the Loyal Order of the Moose, belonging to the lodge in Milwaukee. Don and Cecelia were also frequent volunteers at the Hortonville Food Pantry for many years, helping the community and giving whatever they could.
Don will be deeply missed by his wife, Cecelia; his children, Jeff (Sue), Dan (Joy), and Tim; his grandchildren, Sarah (Andy) and Matt (Samone); his great-grandchildren, Isla and Eden; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.
Don is preceded in death by his siblings, Eva and Marie (Cliff); as well as many siblings-in-law on Cecelia’s side.
A funeral visitation will be held for Don on Monday, March 11, 2024 from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish, N2385 Municipal Dr, Greenville, WI 54942 with a mass to follow at 1:00 PM. Don will be laid to rest at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Lake Area Zoological Society (Bramble Park Zoo) in Watertown, South Dakota, in honor of Don’s wishes using the link found below.
Don’s family would like to send a special thanks to the nurses, the nuns and spiritual leaders, and other staff at St. Paul’s Elder Services and Hospice, especially both Lindseys in hospice and Ashley, their in-home healthcare giver, for all the care and compassion shown to Don during his time of need.
