REIS, DONALD L. “DON”

Donald Reis, of Greeville, age 74 years, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on June 26, 1933 in Greenville the son of the late Frank and Barbara (Meidl) Reis. On September 1, 1954 he married Petronella “Nell” Vander Zanden in Shiocton. At the age of 17 years, Don took over the family farm that is now run by his son Dennis. As a young man he was a member of the Bachelor Club. Don was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Greenville, Greenville Civic Club, The Socialites and retired volunteer with the Greenville Fire Department. He was involved in various bowling leagues and was always ready to play cards. Don loved the Brewers and never missed a game on TV.

Don is survived by his children: Leonard (Debra) Reis, Hortonville; Merlin (Ann) Reis, Kaukauna; Laurie (William) Evers, Freedom; Monica (special friend Doug) Yohn, Combined Locks; Kevin (special friend Lynn) Reis, Little Chute and Dennis (Darcy) Reis, Greenville; grandchildren: Pennie, Patti, Matthew and Jonathan Reis; David, Jacob and Miranda Reis; Michelle and Mark Evers; Victoria, Kyle and Stephanie Yohn; step-grandchildren: Rebecca and Michael Melendy; special friend: Wilma Rohloff, Appleton; brother: Arnold (Darlene) Reis, Menasha; sister: Delores Hieronimczak, Pulaski; brother-in-law: Orville Heiting, Wabeno; sisters-in-law: Ann (Boniface) Kempen, Hollandtown; Mary (Harvey) Fenske, Fremont and Patricia (Fred) Techlin, Freedom; brothers-in-law: Martin (Vivian) Vander Zanden, Jr., Florida; John Vander Zanden, Florida; Ray (Joyce) Vander Zanden, Illinois; Robert (Barb) Vander Zanden, South Carolina; Ken (Luanne) Vander Zanden, Little Chute; Eugene (Joan) Vander Zanden, Kaukauna; Donald (Linda) Vander Zanden, Kaukauna; Tom (Carla) Vander Zanden, Appleton and Richard (Kathy) Vander Zanden, Darboy; sister-in-law: Sherry Vander Zanden, Florida and friend, Bonnie. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Petronella Reis; son, Jim Reis; sisters: Rosella (Bob) Stencil, Carol Heiting and Beatrice (Phillip) Kuczar; brother, Isadore (Elaine) Reis; brothers-in-law: Stanley Hieronimczak and Larry Vander Zanden and sister-in-law, Dorothy Vander Zanden.

The funeral liturgy for Don will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, December 7, 2007 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH – GREENVILLE, N2385 Municipal Drive (Hwy 76) with Fr. Mark Vander Steeg officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday (today) at Wichmann Funeral Home from 4:00 – 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 8:00 pm. There will also be visitation on Friday at the church from 11:00 am until time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
