Age 76, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton on Friday, June 2, 2006. He was born in Wittenberg, WI on February 19, 1930, son of the late Arthur and Agnes (Buss) Schoepke. On September 19, 1953 he married his wife of 52 years, Gretchen Van Rooy. He was employed at Kimberly Clark, Atlas Mill, for many years. Don was an avid gardener who was particularly proud of his apple trees. His favorite pastimes included watching NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers. He loved to go camping with his family at Legend Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Gretchen; children: Kathy Vaught of Appleton, Cindy (Greg) Griesbach of Appleton, Jeff (Diane) Schoepke of Little Chute and Sally (Patrick) Morth of Appleton; grandchildren: Jamie (Travis), Jessica, Adam, Amber (Chris), Bret, Jacob, Sam, Noah and Hannah Rose; great-grandson, Cole; brothers: Dale (Carol), Neil (Barb) and Jerry (Toni) Schoepke; sister, Dolores Martin; and a sister-in-law: Dorie Schoepke; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Jr.; stepmother of many years, Alice Schoepke, and a brother-in-law, Dwight Martin.

The funeral liturgy will be at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St. Appleton, with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

The family extends a very special thank you to Dr. Kenneth Geller and the Acute Care nursing staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital for their excellent care.
