DONALD E. HIMEBAUGH

Age 98, long-time Appleton resident, Donald E. Himebaugh passed away quietly at home
on Saturday, July 17, 2004. He was born on February 20, 1906 in Fawn River, Michigan,
son of the late Miles and Katherine (Barton). Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Violet (Pickett) Himebaugh, whom he wed on December 16, 1945. They enjoyed most of their long and loving marriage of 58 years in Appleton. Donald was a graduate of Bronson (MI) High School and took courses at Northwestern University and Ferris College. He was employed by a New York Stock
Exchange firm for nine years and retired from the S.C. Shannon Co. of Appleton after 39 years of service. Mr. Himebaugh proudly served his nation during a three-and-a-half year Army tour with General Patton's Third Army in the European Theatre during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, Royal Arch Masons, Siroc Chapter,
Kiwanis "K" Appleton, Neenah-Menasha Men's Fellowship and the First Congregational Church of Appleton. He enjoyed widespread travels in the company of his beloved Violet. Special trips were made to Mexico and Spain.
Donald is survived by several cousins and dear friends. Donald was also preceded in death by his sister, Mrs. Sara Neville.
A private memorial service will be held. He wished to express special thanks to all who cared for him and Violet: friends, neighbors and short and long-term caregivers.
A memorial fund is established for The Thompson Community Center, Appleton.
