Dolores “Dee” Huss
Dolores Huss, age 94 of Kaukauna, died at St. Paul Home on July 29, 2020. She was born in Milwaukee on May 19, 1926, daughter of the late Elizabeth (Sazama) Hamilton. Dolores was a 1944 graduate of the Kaukauna High School and on October 10, 1946 married Jerome Huss at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna. He preceded her in death in 2017. The couple shared seventy happy years together.
She and Jerry operated Jerry and Dee’s Tavern for over seventeen years, and Dee also worked as a bookkeeper at the NAPA store in Kaukauna for over twenty years. Many will also remember the she was a member of the American Legion Post #41 Auxiliary for some seventy years.
Dee kept busy by making thousands of sets of doll clothes, cross-stitching , and painting Jerry’s wood projects and ceramics which came from her own kiln, reading, and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. Together they loved camping and traveled all around the United States.
Dee is survived by four children: Mike (Jill) Huss of Kaukauna; Thomas (Pam) Huss of Hortonville; Tony (Cindy) Huss of Kaukauna; and Matt (Linda) Huss of Tawas City, Michigan. There are ten grandchildren: Craig Huss, Chad (Laura) Huss, Angela (Matthew) Buechel, Kristy Kast, Jacqueline (Christopher) Lawrence, Ben Huss, Adam (Rachel) Huss, Nicole (Mike) Tessler, Amber Huss, and Kevin (Brittney) Huss. There are also fifteen great-grandchildren and a special cousin, Barbara Weiss.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry, and sons Alan and Bruce.
The funeral liturgy for Dee will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. David McElroy officiating. Face coverings will be required for both the visitation and the mass. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather Thursday morning at the church from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff on the Birch Wing at St. Paul Home for their love, care, and compassion. We will never forget your kindness.
