Diane Kay Mykel, 69, of Neenah, WI, passed away following a short courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 1, 1955, to Joseph and Leona (Collen) Gerrits. Diane graduated from Neenah High School in the class of 1973 and went on to work at Plexus Corporation for more than 30 years until her retirement in 2019. She worked in many areas and made many lasting friendships along that journey.
Diane loved spending time with those she loved most. She was often home with her beloved cat (s), cheering on the Packers, catching an old Bonanza episode, swinging on her outdoor swing, playing some games, all while jamming out to Paul McCartney and the Beatles. She enjoyed short vacation trips with her sisters, enjoyed quaint cookouts and if you were lucky, she would fire up the grill for her favorite-Ribeyes. Diane’s logic was impressionable and her kindness unwavering.
She is survived by her forever grateful daughter Amber (Jeffrey) Tharp; grandchildren: Mykayla and Leland Tharp; siblings: Jacqueline Hoppe, Joseph (Gloria) Gerrits and Janice (James) Geldmeyer as well as sister-in-law Karlene Gerrits. She is further survived by cherished nieces, nephews, great and great nieces and nephews and wonderful close friends who were like family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother David Gerrits, brother-in-law Raymond Hoppe and her fur babies: Jazzi, Peanut, Baby and Ebony.
Mom, I have no words. Your love was unconditional, you were my saving grace and it’s so hard imagining life on earth without you. I will miss you so much. Love you most. - Amber
Grandma, thank you for making so many memories with us that will never leave our hearts, we miss you. Love, your “honey bunny” and “shortie.”
Per Diane’s wishes a private Christian graveside service will take place.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Neenah Animal Shelter in Diane’s memory.
