McGINLEY, DENNIS WILSON

Dennis Wilson McGinley, of Appleton, age 58, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 26, 2008. He was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on June 21, 1950. Dennis graduated from Jefferson High School, and then received his undergraduate at U.W. – Platteville, where he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. He received an MBA from Cardinal Stritch College. Dennis was employed by Thrivent Financial for nearly 30 years working in several areas of the company. On September 19, 1983 he married Bonnie Schmidt.

Dennis was an active member of Appleton Alliance Church, past member of United Way and Octoberfest boards. He also assisted with the Thrivent initiative with Habitat for Humanity helping manage the building of thirteen homes. Dennis felt it such a privilege to see these new homeowners achieve their dream.

Dennis was a wonderful man of God who put everyone before himself. He has been involved in the lives of many godchildren, friends and family. Dennis wanted to make everyone feel special and help them bring out their best qualities.

When Dennis entered a room it lit up with his love and amazing personality. He was so loved and will be missed by all that knew him.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife: Bonnie McGinley, Appleton; brothers: Michael (Sara) McGinley and nephew Walker of Los Angeles, CA and David McGinley, Green Bay; brother-in-law: Dale (Rosie) Schmidt of Charles City, IA; special nieces and nephews: Dale (Janet) Schmidt and their son Barry of Appleton; Dan (Jane) Schmidt, Hustisford, WI; Don (Dawn) Lewan and their daughters Heather and Courtney of Crystal Lake, IL and Danielle Schmidt, Charles City, IA. He is further survived by many beloved Wilson cousins and countless friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Alice and Lawrence McGinley.

The memorial service for Dennis will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at APPLETON ALLIANCE CHURCH, 2693 W. Grand Chute Blvd., with Rev. Dennis Episcopo officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Discovery Land at Appleton Alliance Church are appreciated.
