Dennis Edwin Ruh, age 82, of De Pere, passed away on April 14, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Dennis was born on December 29, 1940 in Newton, Wisconsin to the late Jacob and Lorena (Brocker) Ruh. He was a graduate of Valders High School, Class of 1959. He was the Owner and Operator of Denny’s American Classic Tours, a provider of travel tours throughout the US.
Denny loved baseball. It was his passion in life. As a young child he fell in love with the game and it stayed with him his whole life. He was the Founder, General Manager and Coach of the Green Bay Blue Ribbons from 1970-1995; he did just about everything that needed to be done in that organization. During his time with the Blue Ribbons he was able to coach several players who made it to “The Big Show.” The Ribbons, under his guidance, won 13 State Titles. He also started The Sultans, who were a local team that became the Green Bay Billy’s. Among the many accolades he received, he was an inductee in the Wisconsin State Baseball League Hall of Fame, the Lakeshore Hall of Fame, and the Wisconsin Old Timers Hall of Fame. He was also the first inductee, along with Dick Zeratsky, into the Green Bay Baseball Hall of Fame.
The last several years, he acquired a passion for cooking and baking. He also loved music and enjoyed live entertainment and especially loved the performances at the Fireside Theater.
He had a great, infectious laugh and will be missed by all who knew him.
He will be sadly missed by children: daughters Tammy (Jeff Minix) Ruh, Lisa (Dominik) Ruh-Szady, son Tracy (Beth) Ruh, 5 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Siblings: Mardell Huske, Daniel (Carol) Ruh, Darrell (Mari) Ruh, Terry (Debbie) Ruh, and Joleen Ruh, brother-in-law Paul Burkart, as well as special friend Jan Hovey, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, especially his Friday Morning Coffee Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janice Burkart, brother-in-law Bill Huske and nephew Joshua Thibodeau.
The Funeral Mass for Dennis will be on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1307 Lourdes Avenue in De Pere with Fr. James Baraniak, O. Praem officiating.
