Dennis “Denny” Vanden Wyngaard, age 73, of Kimberly, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on December 2, 2021, after a brief illness. Dennis was active member of St. Paul Parish-Combined Locks. He will be well remembered for his countless voluntary hours to his church community with the Knights of Columbus and with the Kimberly Fire Service for over 20 years. Dennis proudly served in the United States Navy for two aboard the Franklin D. Roosevelt aircraft carrier. He was employed at Thilmany Inc. for 42 years. Dennis brought joy to many families thought out his life by dressing up as Santa Clause through the community.
Dennis is survived by his beloved children Rocco (Denise) Vanden Wyngaard and Wendy Tate; four grandchildren: Olivia and Sophia Kero and Owen and Austin Tate, siblings David (Dawn), Alan (Patricia), Tom (Julie), Rick (Laura) and Susie (Rick) Kain and many other relatives throughout the United States.
He is preceded in death by his parents Maureanus and Lucille Van Gompel.
He had a love for the outdoors at the family camp, hunting, fishing, campfires, playing poker, wood working- and his greatest passion – his family. Dennis was a wonderful, father, uncle, son, and brother who will truly be missed and fondly remembered by all that knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Knights of Columbus and Mary’s Girls in Dennis’s name.
The funeral liturgy for Dennis will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at St Paul’s Catholic Church, 410 Wallace Street, Combined Locks at 11:00 AM with Deacon David Hayden presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Military honors for Dennis will follow the funeral liturgy. There will be additional visitation at the church on Friday, December 17th from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM, with a Rosary service and Divine Mercy Chaplet service at 6:30 PM. Private interment at St. Paul Cemetery.
