Dennis C. Johnson, age 82, of Appleton, passed away on June 1, 2022. Dennis was born on January 12, 1940 in Minnesota to the late Clark and Mabel (Gregerson) Johnson. He was a graduate of Ellsworth High School in Ellsworth Wisconsin. After his graduation he served his country honorably as a member of the US Air Force. He married the former Janice Massey on July 6, 1963 in Minnesota and they enjoyed 58 years together before he passed. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Appleton, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Appleton and the Appleton Moose Lodge.
Dennis was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. He loved time with his family, babysitting his grandchildren and even his grandson’s dogs. He loved to attend family and school events for his children and grandchildren and rarely missed one. He enjoyed working in his yard and gardening as well as hosting and going to rummage sales. He also enjoyed travel and going to the casino. He enjoyed collecting coins and in his younger days he was an avid bowler.
He is survived by his wife Janice, 1 daughter Bonnie Johnson, sons Scott Johnson and Steve (special friend Debra Hoerth) Johnson, grandchildren David (Sarah) Johnson, and their children Landen and Laurel, Cody (special friend Lauren Zuleger) and Kevin Johnson, Caitlynn Johnson and Carleigh Johnson-Islinger as well as many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter Cheryl Johnson, brothers Arvid and Duane Johnson, sister Shirley Gilbertson, and his close friend Jim Conway.
There will be a gathering in Celebration of Life on Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Wichmann Funeral Homes, Tri County Chapel in Menasha.
