Delores “Ginger” Schauman, age 94, passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, February 4, 2025, just hours before her 95th birthday. She was born on February 5, 1930, to the late Wayne and Ruby (Reed) Nygard. Delores was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Erwin Schauman, with whom she shared 48 wonderful years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by a beloved son, Scott, who was stillborn.
Delores attended school in Menasha, graduating in 1948 and retaining classmate friendships for over 70 years. Afterward, she worked in the offices of Marathon Paper and Banta Corp, where she shared her passion for typing and organization. However, Delores’ most cherished role was that of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a role she embraced with warmth, compassion, and love.
While her husband was serving in the military, she purchased a lot on the north shore of Lake Winnebago where they later built the family home that provided years of waterfront enjoyment for the family. Delores had an incredibly positive attitude toward everything she did and everyone she encountered. She was an unselfish caretaker, tending to the needs of her mother-in-law, husband, children, and grandchildren with grace. She spent many wonderful years at the family cabin "up north" in Suring, WI, built by her, her husband, and her in-laws. Delores enjoyed canning vegetables, sewing, knitting and making precious keepsakes for her children and grandchildren. She loved special visits with her oldest grandchild and only grandson, Eric. She created many wonderful memories through the brave adventures she shared with her daughters and granddaughters. She was a loyal Packers fan and spent many Sunday’s enjoying lunch with her sons and watching the football games. Her huge heart extended to animals as well—Delores never turned away an opportunity to bring a new bird, hamster, dog, or even a horse into the family. Later in life, she discovered a love for cats and rescued many who, in turn, filled her heart with joy. She was happily entertained by the birds, squirrels, turkeys and deer that often roamed up to her beautiful log home, which she cared for meticulously, with the help of her favorite neighbor, her son Terry.
Delores left her family an incredible history through pictures and journals, passing down generations of stories to cherish. She took great pride in her family and their accomplishments and treasured every moment and keepsake she acquired.
She is survived by her four children: Terry (Connie) Schauman, Sandy (Craig) Noffke, Randy (Anne) Schauman, and Cathy Rutten (Tom Muza); five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Eric Schauman, Ashley (Stephen) Soyk, with great-grandchildren Norah, Leona, Penny, and Clifford Soyk; Alicia (Ian) Oestreich, with great-grandchild Cypress Oestreich; Caitlin Noffke (Keegan Lott); and Maggie Schauman (Owen Van Der Horst).
