We share in sadness the passing of Dolores (Dee) Krueger, on March 22, 2024, age 94.
Dolores was born in Brillion, WI on June 13, 1929 to “Papa” Frank and “Mama” Eleanor (Kiefer) Bohman. She has shared many happy memories of her years growing up on the family farm. After graduating from Brillion High School, Dolores attended Oshkosh State College.
On August, 28, 1956, Dolores married Merlin Krueger, who loved her dearly for 54 years. Together they built a home and life together in Neenah, where they raised their three children.
In addition to being a homemaker, Dolores was employed at Memorial Florist and used her creative side to design beautiful flower arrangements. She also worked in Oshkosh for neurologist, Doctor Paul, transcribing medical dictation.
After the children were grown, Dolores looked forward to traveling with her husband to Texas during the winter months. They spent many hours picking buckets full of pecans to proudly share with family and friends upon returning home. In the summer they spent precious time at their cottage on Clover Leaf Lakes. Here Dolores kept busy working on puzzles, dancing to church picnic polkas, and was always determined to win at a competitive card game of sheepshead or spite & malice.
Dolores was a faithful member of St Gabriel’s Parish in Neenah and enjoyed mingling with friends over coffee and donuts after the service. She belonged to the “Red Hat Ladies” club, enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and had many fun-filled camping week-ends. Dolores was quite adventurous and parasailed in Jamaica and rode on Disney’s “Tower of Terror” at the age of 79 - yikes!
She loved to bake and is remembered for her monster cookies at Halloween, her fancy decorated spritz Christmas cookies and her other specialty baked goods throughout the year. Some of her best desserts were yummy mounds bars, cream filled chocolate cupcakes and her delicious raspberry tort.
Dolores will be greatly missed by her children and their spouses, Peggy and Jeff Maynard, Tom and Sheri Krueger and Mike Krueger and fiancé, Debbie Allen.
She loved her grandchildren, Autumn (Vic) Grimm, Kyle (Stephanie) Krueger, Craig (Rachel) Krueger, Susie, Mary, Matt and Dakota Maynard.
Her smile was never brighter than when she saw her sweet great grandchildren, Jaden, Makayla, Cambria, Jenika, Bailey, Levi, Emmy and little Adlie.
She was also known as “Grandma K” to numerous foster children and adults with disabilities.
Dolores is survived by her brother Lawrence (Marcella) Bohman, her brother Clarence (Beverly) Bohman and her close cousin, Ed (Ruth) Kiefer.
Dolores was predeceased by her devoted husband, Merlin Krueger, two sisters, Helen Bohman and Rita Pardee and daughter-in-law, Emily Krueger.
A celebration of Dolores’ life will take place on Saturday, April 13th at Wichmann’s Tri-County Chapel, 1592 Oneida Street, Menasha. Friends and family are invited to share their memories during visitation from 9:30am to 11:30am. A Catholic service will be held at 11:30am with a meal to follow. Dolores’ favorite color was green, so if able, please wear something green in her remembrance!
We thank the caregivers at The Landings of Kaukauna and appreciate the support of the St Croix Hospice Team. In lieu of flowers, any donations will be given to the St Jude Cancer Foundation in support of Levi, Dolores’ great grandson.
To mom, grandma and GGK – we love you and will miss you!
