Debra Jean Roman

February 21, 1951 — February 14, 2007

Roman, Debra J. (Debbie), 55, passed on Valentine’s Day. After moving from Madison to the Fox Valley 24 years ago with her husband Jim Blum, Greenville, she joined the family at Lawrence University as a laboratory supervisor in the chemistry department. Debbie and Jim met on a blind date and life was great until one day she drew the short straw. Her recreational interests included gardening, woodworking, golf, travel and wilderness camping. She laughed easily and had many other exceptional qualities. In short, no better person ever existed except she didn’t clean fish. Preceding Debbie in passing was her mother, Leona Roman (Wakeman). Survivors include her father, Richard Roman, Sauk City; brother Richard (Dick) Roman II, Prairie du Sac; sisters Kathy (Keith) Peters, Katy TX; Sue Giese, Medford WI; Rona (Julian) Case, Thornton CO.

All friends, family and colleagues are welcome to gather for Debbie’s Memorial Celebration on Sunday, March 4th at 6:00 p.m. at the Lawrence University Chapel, reception to follow. Casual attire is more than acceptable. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation.

Such a profound sense of loss is tempered only by one’s pledge of eternal love.
