Debra Kay Van, age 63, of Menasha, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack at her home on November 13, 2022. Deb was born on July 19, 1959, daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Reif) Polzin.
She was profound, instinctive, and always able to assist others on their life’s journeys. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Never short of lessons and words of wisdom. One of the most amazing abilities about her was her ability to adapt and overcome. Despite her large family and network of friends she always made time for everyone. As a mother and grandmother there was no greater advocate you could have. She had a passion for simple pleasures in life and displayed it in her everyday life. She enjoyed traveling and enjoying the outdoors; camping, gardening, sitting by fires, watching sunsets, and listening to waves on the lake. Her life epitomized these details living on the lake with her best friend and husband Kenny; she lived her dream.
Deb will be missed by her husband of 33 years: Ken Steidl; sons: Jeremy (Tina) Van and Jason (Anne) Van; grandchildren: Dalton, Akela, Brayden, and Landon; great granddaughter: Mia; siblings: Dave Polzin and Scott (Sheri) Polzin; and special friends. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Deb was preceded in death by her parents: Ralph and Mary; grandson: Dusty Van; siblings: Linda Fullerton and Ralph Polzin; and sister-in-law: Patricia Polzin.
The celebration of life for Deb will be held on December 3, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Wichmann Funeral Homes Tri-County Chapel, 1592 S. Oneida St. Menasha. Visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Deb’s name are appreciated.
Deb’s family would like to thank the Theda Care Regional Medical Center for their kindness and efforts.
