A light has gone out of our lives. Dawn Renee Buxton was a unique, vibrant, shining light in the lives of many. She won the race and went home to be with her Savior on Friday, September 23, 2022. She had been diagnosed with a large butterfly glioblastoma brain tumor on Monday, September 19. We are very thankful that though her exit was sudden and unexpected, there wasn’t suffering or pain or a long time of waiting for God’s will to be done.
Dawn was born to her parents Dennis and Ellyn (Springstroh) Forbeck, who loved her very much, and though sad and shocked at her passing, await the day of the great reunion. She was born March 31, 1967. She lived in the Appleton area much of her early life, attended several grade schools and graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School in Appleton in 1985. She worked at several jobs before starting her career at Thrivent in 2001. She advanced through many positions and was working remotely at home at the time of her passing.
Dawn married Paul Buxton on October 8, 1988, and the two shared almost 34 years together. They lived in rural Marion, WI and thoroughly enjoyed teaming up to live off the land with a large garden. They hunted together, canned many kinds of fruits and vegetables, and sought many ways to make their lives as productive and independent as possible. Dawn truly loved the beauty of nature and found joy and happiness finding new ways to be self-sufficient.
Dawn and Paul loved spending time with their granddaughter Ryleigh. They also have two special Rhodesian ridgeback dogs, Izzy and Dozer who will miss Dawn terribly. Dawn always loved going to their cabin in the woods near Post Lake.
Dawn is survived by Paul, her parents, her daughter Renee (Nathan) Jaeger, and granddaughter Ryleigh, her in-laws, Tom and Sue Buxton, sister-in-law Leigh Buxton, and her grandfather, Earl (Bud) Springstroh. Dawn was especially fond of a recent five generation picture with her daughter and granddaughter, her mother and grandfather. Dawn is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and coworkers.
The family would like to sincerely thank everyone who has expressed love and support for them at this time, and for the outstanding, professional care that Dawn received at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton during her final days.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, her maternal grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of life with take place in Dawn’s honor at the River Rail Banquet Hall in Shiocton, WI on October 8, 2022, from 1 PM to 5 PM with a special “Tribute to Dawn” beginning at 2:30 pm. A memorial fund is being established.
