Age 89, Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather died peacefully at Rennes Health Care Center on the morning of Saturday, November 25th, 2006. He was born on May 21, 1917, son of Art and Nina (Davis) Searl. On January 26, 1944 he married Gertrude Karrow at Trinity Lutheran Church in Menasha. They celebrated 62 years of marriage. Davis was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was a member of the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association. He was employed in the investment department at AAL/Thrivent Financial for 35 years. He was a member of the Appleton Noon Lion’s Club where he was a past president and also received the Melvin Jones Award. Survivors include his wife Gertrude, his son, Charles (Sheri) Searl, Hortonville. Daughters, Susan (Dan) Piper, Appleton. Chris (Matt) Seifert, Wisconsin Rapids, and Kathy Searl, Appleton. Nine grandchildren, Janet (Bill) Rudderham, Jeffrey (Kristen) Piper, Jenni (Mike) Hughes, Katie Schulz, Maggie Seifert, Karissa, Cullin, Kacie and Kendra Searl, two step grandchildren Mike and Emily Seifert. Five great grandchildren, Brett, Kevin, Tyler and Megan Hughes and Emma Piper. He is further survived by sisters-in-law June Haertl, Phoenix, AZ, and Lois Jenkel, Appleton and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister and her husband Arnine and Willfred Seis, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Marvin Franz, brother and sister-in-law Howard and Dorothy Karrow and brothers-in-law Douglas Haertl, and John Jenkel. He was a faithful and active member of Faith Lutheran Church. A funeral service to celebrate Davis’ life will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, November 28th at Faith Lutheran Church 601 E. Glendale Ave. in Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Faith Lutheran Church.
