David William Hofacker

David William Hofacker, age 49, passed away on Monday, December 10th following a recent diagnosis of cancer. He was born on November 25, 1969, in Appleton to Henry and Geraldine (Nelson) Hofacker. David grew up on a farm and loved farming. David loved God and his family. He also enjoyed the simple things in life. He had the radio cranked up and loved a good time with friends, Mountain Dew, a good pizza, cherry torte and pumpkin pie. He had a quick wit and an extraordinary sense of humor. David had many health challenges throughout his life, including a bone marrow transplant at age 18, and his brother, Doug, was his donor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry (Hank) and his sister Kristine (Krisy), grandparents, Maynard and Gertrude Nelson and William and Ruth Hofacker.

David is survived by his mother, Gerry; sisters and brothers, Karen, Laurie (Mark) Zwerg, Doug (Mindy) Hofacker, Amy (Doug) VanAsten, Brian Hofacker (Brandon Ptak), and Teri (Lance) Simons.
He is further survived by his nephews and nieces, Jacob and Josh Zwerg; Harrison, Lucas, and Lydia Hofacker; Kennedy and Kade VanAsten; Riley, Tyler and Reed Simons. Aunts and uncles, Jack and Mary Stephani; Mike and Barbara Assad family; Jack and Judy Nelson; Francis and Linda (Debruin) Hofacker family, (Francis deceased), Wayne Debruin; John and Delores Hofacker family, (Red and Dee deceased); William Jr. and Vera Hofacker family, (Bill deceased); Joe and Marilyn (Nielsen) Hofacker family, (Joe and Marilyn deceased); Ed and Mary Hawley, (Ed and Mary deceased); Ann Hofacker (Annie deceased); Howard and Catherine Belonger family, (Howard and Catherine deceased), Charlotte Belonger; Robert and Margaret Parker family, (Bob and Mag deceased); Godparents – Nicholas and Cheryl Hofacker family (Nick deceased); Paul and Mary Ellen Hofacker family; and Tony and Rosanne Hofacker family (Rosanne deceased).

In addition to the above listed names, David was preceded in death by his cousins, William (Bud) III Hofacker and Hope Hofacker.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held for David at 6 PM on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at St. Edward Catholic Church, N2926 WI-47, Appleton (Mackville), WI, with Rev. Mr. Jeff Hofacker officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church from 3 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be held privately in St. Edward Catholic Cemetery on Friday, December 14th.

David had many loyal friends, a special thank you to his good friends, Dan and Chris.

We would like to thank the staff at St. Elizabeths’ 3rd floor, Brewster Village staff, and Ascension Hospice services. A special thank you Deacon Jeff Hofacker, Carrie Bardwell and everyone who visited him at the hospital and nursing home.

We will miss you so much Dave! I will miss your early morning 7 am phone call, “Hi Ma, what you doing?” Give Krisy and Dad a hug from all of us. ~Love, Mom.
