David Robert List, of Appleton, went to Heaven on February 21, 2021, surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
David was born in Appleton on June 21, 1976 to Robert and Sharon List. He was among the first Plamann School students to be integrated into the Appleton Area School District. He was a proud manager on the football team at Appleton East High School, and left the school system with the Class of 1996 for lifelong employment at Valley Packaging Industries. Additionally, he enjoyed a 20 year career working in the Lawrence University cafeteria. In 2008 he moved from his parent’s home to an Adult Home setting with longtime acquaintance and friend, Kris Schoenrock, where he received loving support and care, enjoyed the companionship of housemate, Kevin Bowers, played with the cats, and resided until he returned to his parent’s home on Stroebe Island for hospice care. David was an active Special Olympian participating in bowling, basketball, soccer and softball. He was an avid Nascar fan of Dale Earnhardt and Kevin Harvick, enjoyed traveling, always had a smile—especially for a pretty girl—loved music of all kinds, and is likely still dancing to Uptown Funk. David was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his parents, Bob and Sharon; sister, Julie (George) Adams and their sons Drew, Reid, and Blake of Madison; his “other mother,” Kris Schoenrock, Appleton; aunt, Patricia Johnson, Appleton; uncle, Tom (Marita) List, Missouri; cousins, Robert (Heidi) Johnson and their children, Reagan and James, Appleton; Jennifer (Adam) Miller and daughter Bailey, Appleton; Monica Holmes and Kristin List, Missouri.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Selma Heideman and James and Florence List; uncle, Wayne Heideman; and cousin, Adam List.
A Funeral Service will be held for David at 1 PM on March 4, 2021 at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton, WI 54911. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home from 2-5 pm.
