DRESANG, Sr., DAVID L.
David L. Dresang, age 70, of Appleton, went home to heaven on Monday, August 7, 2006, at his home, surrounded by his family. David was born on March 16, 1936, in Green Bay to the late Mildred (Dresang) Zellmer. He married Mary Copeland on August 26, 1972, in Appleton. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He proudly served his country for twelve years as a member of the United States Air Force in both Korea and Viet Nam. David worked at Appleton Wire Works for sixteen years and subsequently as a bus driver with Valley Transit for 20 years. He was a member of Appleton Post #38 of the American Legion and Moose Lodge #317. David enjoyed video taping, mowing his lawn, family cook outs, visiting the casino, his cat Sammy, bean soup, fishy kisses and especially, the time he spent with his grandchildren. He was also a proud member of the 2nd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Association, Company E. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Mary; his children, David L. (Theresa) Dresang, Jr., DePere; Barb Ashton, Anchorage, Alaska; Sally Montulli, Rochester, New York; Randy (Angela) Dresang, Hubert, North Carolina; and Mary Kay Van Grinsven (Jim De Decker), Appleton; family friend Sue Garcia; his sixteen grandchildren; his two great grandchildren; and his Aunt Ellen, Uncle John and Aunt Viola; his brothers-in-law, Ron (Terry) Richman, and Don (Estelle) Kendrick. He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Thomas (Evelyn) Copeland, Aunt Loretta, Aunt Jean, Aunt Magdalene, Aunt Aurelia and Uncle Willard. Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2006, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Appleton, with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Friends may call directly at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to ThedaCare at Home Hospice, Dr. Anthony Phillips and his staff. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
