David Benotch, age 69, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the Appleton Health Care Center. David was born in Kaukauna in May 19, 1939, son of the late Leo and Magdalene (Pennings) Benotch. Following high school, he served his country for a time as a member of the United States Marine Corps, and after his return, married the former Kay Malsavage on June 25, 1965. Kay preceded him in death in December of 1980. David worked many years in the Kaukauna area as an independent insurance agent. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially baseball, softball, and hunting, was an avid reader, and could usually be found puttering in his woodshop in the garage. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include two children: Desseria (Jordan) Kopac of Racine and their children Jordan Kopac III and Eden Kopac; and John (Diane) Benotch of Appleton; and two sisters: Barb Gossens of Sturgeon Bay and Carrie (Peter) Sherrill of Forestville. David is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kay in 1980, a sister Carol, a brother Jerome (Ruth) Benotch, and a brother-in-law Bob Gossens.
The funeral liturgy for David will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 29, 2008 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Martin Fox officiating. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the services.
